Just outside the southernmost boundary of Stagleap Provincial Park on Kootenay Pass, and at an elevation of 1951 meters (6400ft) is one of BC’s best kept secrets for winter recreation. The Ripple Ridge Cabin has been attracting many backcountry skiers and snowboarders from all over North America. The cabin is operated and maintained by the Ripple Ridge Recreation Association (RRRA) through an agreement with Recreation Sites and Trails of BC. During the summer, volunteers from RRRA clean, maintain the cabin and refill the woodshed for the next winter.

On any given day from early November until sometime in April, the cabin is home for up to six adventure seekers, and can also be a destination for the afternoon snowshoers who need to get out of town.

Although a bit rustic, the cabin offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere that cannot be found anywhere else. With the beautiful feel of natural wood heat from the cabin’s wood stove, there is room for up to six people to bunk for the night.

Occupancy is controlled by an online booking system where overnight users are required to pay a fee to reserve the cabin. Check it out at and reserve now for best choice!

Due to the possibility of mountain caribou in the area, dogs are not permitted in Stagleap Park during winter months. Please leave them safely at home! The surrounding area is also non-motorised during the winter.

It’s our winter wonderland, and we welcome you to enjoy it too!
